Aliases in graph view

Use case or problem

I’d like obsidian to show file aliases in local graph view rather than file names. I can have very long file names and thus it makes my local view a bit crowded.

Proposed solution

when parsing for files, may be parsing for aliases could be done simultaneously (if not already done). One problem that could arise is one file being linked to with several different type aliases, this file should then appear several time in local view.

Current workaround (optional)

None existing so far.

Thanks for reading me.

Thanks also for this amazing project that obsidian is

Have a good day ( / night) !

As obsidian supports files with same name as long as they are in different folders, simply giving the proper name to the files could be a solution. I wanted aliases because this could make sure, when i have some file names which represent titles, that i did not have two files with the same title.

Vote up for this feature. I use Obsidian to keep research paper notes and I like the way the notes are connected as a citation graph. However, many papers have short nick names which is suitable for node annotations in the graph view, and it is impossible to read their full titles which all overlap with each other.
