Add (or create) today's daily note for display on a Canvas dashboard

I’m not even sure where to start on this. I’ve search but can’t find anything. Apologies if I’m missing it.

I have a dashboard that I use daily, and would like to reserve a block that will display today’s daily note so that I can edit it right on the dashboard. I can get close with embedding, etc., but not quite there. These seem like the steps that have to happen:

  1. Determine the date, and open (or create) today’s daily note.
  2. Put that note on the cavas in a predetermined location-not just as a static embed or query result, but with the text in the note being editable right on the canvas.
