Use case or problem
While reviewing plugins from the community within Obsidian, it is difficult to tell what effect a plugin will have on your vault and notes.
We can only filter community plugins from title text.
Proposed solution
Create a simple and standard set of “badges” or “tags” to be applied to plugins. I’m guessing developers have access to some underlying API’s which could maybe automate some of these badges to show what they do.
Examples:
External Network- uses external network in some way (connects your vault to the outside world)Canvas- will enhance the canvas functionality in some way.
Badges would be visible when reviewing new plugins and installed plugins. When plugins update and includes new functionality badges can be shown.
