Fix for Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F), Android Version: 9, OneUI: 1.0
->Settings/Sounds and Vibration/Vibration intensity/Notifications (drag slider all the way to the left)
+1 please add option to toggle off all vibrations
On a S21 Ultra (OneUI 6) all categories of system vibration (including touch and navigation) are disabled and Obsidian still vibrates. System settings arenāt being used.
The closest thing to a workaround is removing the vibrate permission from the app via ADB, but most people shouldnāt be pasting commands into ADB debugging sessions.
+1 for fixing this. I canāt create notes while lying in bed because the vibration is loud enough to wake my wife.
One problem is Obsidian doesnāt properly respect the system vibrate intensity setting. If I slide that setting all the way to the left, then it turns off the vibrations in Obsidian, but then I also lose all keyboard haptic feedback. Setting this slider to any level above zero causes Obsidian to do maximum vibration intensity.
The other problem is that the base level of vibration is just too intense for this action. If I turn system vibration intensity all the way to maximum, the keyboard haptic feedback is still much gentler than Obsidian note creation on the lowest setting. Why canāt we have note creation give haptic feedback at the same level as the keyboard, instead of this giant buzzing earthquake?
We changed the haptics library we use on version 1.7. Let me know if it works better (i.e. respects systems settings on samsung phones)
It works for me. Thanks!
I am writing to report an issue with the Obsidian application related to internal vibrations. Despite my efforts to resolve this problem through various settings and workarounds, the vibrations continue to occur within the app, which is significantly affecting my user experience.
Annoying while creating,
- New folders
- Canvas notes
Step taken (chronological order):
- Reviewed and adjusted system notification and vibration settings like haptic feedback.
- Obsidian team responded the same answer to turn off the āhaptic feedbackā on the google play!
⢠Device model: Oppo Reno 2Z
⢠OS: Android 11
⢠Color OS: 11.1
⢠Obsidian version: 1.6.7 (149)
My current version is 1.6.7. I didnāt receive any update to 1.7.0 on the google play. Iāve checked!
I look forward to your response
Same issue. All system types of vibration (haptic feedbeck, silent mode) are disabled.
Android version 11
Device model: xiaomi poco m4 pro
App version 1.8.10
Using CodeScript Toolkit, you can just nuke navigator.vibrate on Obsidian startup.
Disable vibration in the Obsidian mobile app - Share & showcase - Obsidian Forum
Just popping in to say that Iāve not seen any change/improvement to the vibration level issues with Obsidian. No matter what I do in my system settings (short of fully disabling all feedback entirely), the haptic feedback within Obsidian is still always at max intensity.![]()
The behavior makes it harrowing to use in bed for fear of waking my partner too, because the vibrations are SO loud/intense. Fully disabling vibration feedback on a system level isnāt a solution, because I still want the low-level haptics for other system & app behaviors.
If thereās ANY way to integrate a vibration intensity slider within Obsidian, that really would be a huge QoL movement in my opinion. Even a simple toggle to just fully disable it would be better than what it does now lol
