I would like it to be slightly easier to open the daily note on mobile.
I use daily notes extensively. I know there is an option to open the daily note automatically on app launch, and I tried that out, but I ended up closing it about half the time, so I turned the option off again. However, now opening the daily note is a little clunky. I can find it in the lower-right hamburger menu, but that menu is very long, so picking it out from the other options isn’t immediate or intuitive.
Proposed solution
There are already a few buttons on the screen that shows when no tabs are open. In this context, one of the most likely actions is that I’ll want to open the daily note, so I suggest adding one more button to that screen to do that.
Changed title to use a more “official” term and to remove “on mobile” since the new tab screen exists on desktop too (there’s probably a better word than “view” but nothing came to mind). (Was “Add a “Daily note” button to the no-tabs screen on mobile”).
I use a stock Obsidian (no plugins) for journaling and heavily use daily notes. It would be helpful, especially on mobile, to have a daily notes option on the welcome screen. There are many ways to access daily notes including a long press the mobile icon and a home screen widget so this is a minor and low priority request
Proposed solution
The welcome screen currently has the options “Create new note” “Go to File” and “Close”. It would be nice to have an “Open today’s daily note” option added if enabled.
I meant the default screen that displays when you open Obsidian that you reference. I referred to it as a “Welcome Screen” as I wasn’t sure of it’s formal name.
Yes the option should only be present if Daily Notes was Core plugin is enabled. The ribbon icon and mobile widget currently show or hide depending on if the Daily Notes Core Plugin is enabled.
