Steps to reproduce

After upgrading macOS to Sequoia 15.1.1, Obsidian continues to experience crashes. The current version of Obsidian is 1.7.7 (Installer 1.7.6).

Yes. The problem is that the app crashes EVERY TIME I open it.

Someone mentioned similar on Discord earlier. They restarted the mac and Obsidian opened fine after that. Something to try.

my discord broke because of the MacOS update too…
Anything else I can try?

Have you tried deleting Obsidian, rebooting, and then doing a clean installation (with the latest installer)?

nope, didn’t work

i tried literally everything. deleting all files related to obsidian (completely erased obsidian from my mac) / delete app / reinstall app / reinstall from homebrew, etc.
and it still doesn’t work.

Do you know where to find crash logs?

Where is your vault stored?

i used to store my vault on my laptop.
then I moved to document
didn’t work either way.

  1. When you reinstalled, did the Mac ask for permission to run Obsidian?
  2. What Mac have you got? Intel or Apple silicon?
  3. Are you using a VPN?

  3. I tried both use and not use VPN, and neither worked.

i used obsidian locally on my laptop for quite some time before the recent MacOS and/or the recent obsidian upgrade.
I’m unsure how to identify the cause of the crashes.

ok community, i solved the issue with the help from discord.

I tried using another account on the same laptop, and it worked. When I returned to my main account, everything continued to function properly.
I have no idea what happened, but it’s working now. (My Discord app is working again too!)
