Ableton Live Integration

Recently, I came across Ableton.js, which is a TypeScript library to communicate with Ableton Live, one of the most popular DAWs (≒ music production apps).

As an Ableton & Obsidian user, I’m wondering what an Ableton integration plugin would look like. Just random thoughts.

Are there any features that you would like to see in such a plugin?
Mine is dedicated link formats that allow you to link to specific timestamps (either in seconds [[My live set.als#t=10s]] or in the “bar.beat.16th” format
[[My live set.als#t=4.2.1]]).
Additionally, a track could be specified like [[My live set.als#t=4.2.1&track=1 MIDI|The coolest lick ever]].
This way I would be able to leave a comment on a specific phrase of a specific track, and it would be useful for jazz transcription and many other things.

Hmm… I really missed the feature to add annotations everywhere within the Live set, since I started using Live 10 years ago.
For example, on the second chord of the 3rd MIDI block of the bass track.

People seem to use dummy midi tracks and info texts for notes.

Also I found a nice-looking plugin (not for Obsidian but for Ableton) for that kind of purpose.

But it would be nice if we had some means of annotating our projects inside Obsidian so that we can easily connect between ideas.

Thank you, @ush.

I will try the NTPD plugin. (Update: I can’t use it as I don’t own a version of Live that includes Max.)

Yes, I also think connecting between ideas inside Obsidian would be nice.
Maybe it’s possible to add markers in the Live set to create/follow a link to the Obsidian annotation and vice versa.

My fav of these Max note plugins is Session Notes, free here Session Notes | Max for Live device
