A sticky note for each of your note

Use case or problem

Whenever I’m writing a text, there’s always little stuff related to it but not part of it that I need to wirte down. For example if I’m writing a chapter about a magician making potions, I might need to write stuff for later reviewing:

  • add mentions of the magician’s study of plants when he was a teen
  • more detailed description of the cauldron and the smoke
  • end the chapter with an action scene

Proposed solution

A solution would be for each note the possibility to create a twin note: every time you open a note, if it has a twin note it would appear on the sidebar (left or right) so as you read and edit, you would always have the twin note in view. It would be like a margin for each note.

Here’s an artist rendering of what it would look like:

Workaround

Plugin Obsidian Enhanced Annotations

  • Explore comments/highlights of the active file in a sidebar view
  • Create notes from comments/highlights using the editor context menu

You can also include comment blocks in your notes like this:

%% end the chapter with an action scene %%

Comment blocks only appear in edit mode. Comment blocks can contain links to other documents in the vault, or external links including web links. They can also include tasks, if you use the tasks plugin. I find it more secure to have the comment embedded in the relevant file.
