A new tab opens after the current tab, and not after all the pinned tabs

Is this a bug? I have three pinned tabs. I often use the first pinned tab, but when I’m on the first pinned tab and I open a new tab, it opens between the first pinned tab and the other pinned tabs. Instead of being placed after all pinned tabs, a new tab is placed between them. Why is it called “pinned” if it is not at the top?

I have nothing knowledgeable to offer about where new tabs should open. But to your literal question:

Why is it called “pinned” if it is not at the top?

I think “pinned” is about being pinned open, having nothing to do with being pinned to the top. For example, you can drag a pinned note below or to the right of an unpinned note, to intentionally place it there.

As there are a lot of possible arrangements of pinned and unpinned tabs…

… it makes sense to me (and does happen to be my personal preference) that a new file open directly beside to the note that opened it.
