I’m a researcher with a desperate need to optimise the organisation of my literature and writing (currently relegated to time outside my 9-5 day job) - lots to do with very little time. The primary focus of my research interest is vertebrate evolution and functional anatomy, with some work on human anatomy, birds-dinosaurs & plesiosaurs.
I read Getting Things Done many years ago, and was an early adopter of Evernote, Appigo’s “Todo” app for iOS etc, and stumbled across Notion late 2019, and then Roam and Obsidian early 2020, and learned of the Zettlekasten method.
I’m still sorting out best PKM-GTD method for me. Used Obsidian A few months while Roam was locked down early-mid 2020, then used Roam for a few months while reading Sonke Ahern’s “How to Write Smart Notes”. I found the way I used Roam was great for rapid recording of ideas etc, but was generating a very tangled web along the way. Then in early Oct 2020 I saw Nick Milo’s Youtube videos on his LYT system, and saw Obsidian release the new features like block referencing and decided to come back to Obsidian…
