TL;DR: I’ve been around the block enough and tried so many different solutions for “knowledgebases”, documentation, etc… and markdown really solves much of my needs. Obsidian has enabled me to really integrate Markdown into most of my daily processes
I use it for journaling, several distinct vaults for various knowledge domains (IT stuff, and for various hobbies), as well as using it to write and stage my blogs (I wrote my own blog tool for by web site that parses Markdown “articles” and wraps them in the site style - sort of a not quite “static generated site” concept.
Being able to sync between my iphone, mac, and pcs is huge - I was using github for sync but for the private nature of some of the contents, I ended up going with Obsidian built in sync - it was the obsidian iOS app allowing me to journal / put in low friction content creation so that I could then go in on PC or Mac later and make content that really impressed me.
I can’t say enough good things about Obsidian - seriously. It’s been a game changer
