Zotero Integration: Trying to use Custom Style: Chicago Author-Date in Footnotes (plugin keeps adding parentheses)

I’m using Chicago Author-Date in Footnotes, so e.g. “Smith 2019, 5-10”, for pages 5 to 10. This plugin keeps adding parentheses. I also cannot get the custom CSL to work with the plugin. I type it into the field but all it does is add an extra comma after the author’s name, which is a mistake, e.g. Smith, 2019, 5-10.

Any ideas on how to do this? I’m using footnotes like this ^[Smith 2019, 5-10]
