js-yamlto work off the parse tree (I’d actually be curious to see how you make use of it), and avoid having Obsidian touching the YAML altogether.
If this is the official solution that the team moves user bug reports to the bug graveyard for (issue 1), why is this minority of users forced to have Obsidian touch the YAML? Do you assume all heavy YAML users are only plugin developers?
