Wrong internal link created when empty/math footnote

There seems to be a problem with empty footnotes that act like Markdown reference-style links. It also happens when the content of the footnote is (only) a math equation, with nothing outside the $.

It results in the following header being considered an internal link.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Copy-paste this in a new note:
    Text[^a]

    [^a]: $a$

    # Header

  2. Still in edit mode, add and remove some character after the second $; when no additional character, the header becomes an internal link

Environment

  • Operating system: Windows 10
  • Obsidian version: v0.11.5

I wasn’t able to reproduce this error. Does it still occur when you turn off custom CSS?

Yes, with no custom CSS, custom theme, nor community plugin it still occurs…

I was mistaken, I can reproduce this as well—I was only checking if it occurred in preview mode, not edit mode. Sorry.

Thanks for the report
