Abbreviations for Word Count Core plugin

Use case or problem Currently, the core word count plugin takes a lot of space in the status bar, especially when you have a slim status bar in the center. Proposed solution i’d love the core plugin to add an option to use abbreviations in the status bar: 1040 words => 1040w 3457 characters => 3457c a simple toggle to use abbreviations would do. I know this functionaliy exists as the Better Word Count plugin, but it’s unreliable & buggy, and i think it should be baked in. Current workaround…
