Wikilink resolution does not honor frontmatter aliases (1.12.7)

This is not a bug. it’s how it has always worked and it’s an intentional design decision.

When you start writing [[the illus it should suggest the note with the alias and will create a link [[illusion-of-knowledge|the illusion of knowledge]] that’s all it does.

Ability to use aliases as working links

Use case or problem I would like to have various links to the same note so that I can distinguish the context in which an identical link as a heading is situated within heading structure.
