Why sync

I am considering using obsidian and migrating much of my information out of Microsoft OneNote. I primarily use a Windows PC but I also use an Android phone.

I would be the only user so I wonder why I wouldn’t use obsidian on my phone’s browser rather than sync to an Android version. That way I wouldn’t have to worry about syncing at all.

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

there is no Obsidian version “on the browser”. Obsidian is a local app and runs on the files present on your device (not in the cloud)

For your use case, you must use the Obsidian Sync service or an alternative solution.

Is there not Cloud storage where all the synced files go to?

There is a space in the cloud for the vault but the app doesn’t work on the clould files, the app works on the local files and then sends/receives E2EE updates to the cloud.
