While writing a note, a copy of the note is automatically generated intermittently

As you type randomly and intermittently into the note,

the note is copied and created, and the title of the note changes to

ex) ‘note’ → ‘note 2’,

and the automatically generated notes are copied and created in this way as ‘note(1) , note(2), note(3)’.

There is a bug template to follow if you want to report a bug. It involves sharing more information so the problem can be found. I’ve moved this to Help.

My first guess is you are using a cloud syncing tool (or worse, 2 mixed cloud syncing tools) and getting sync conflicts. Can you share what OS, and what version of Obsidian, and what cloud tools you are using.

But otherwise, if you hadn’t skipped the bug template, there is a link to the basic troubleshooting steps to follow: “Please, follow the Troubleshooting Guide before answering Yes.” There are some steps to try there which might help.

My operating system and specifications are as follows:

Laptop, Desktop: Windows 11

Smartphone, iPad: Apple iOS 26.5

Storage: iCloud

Obsidian: 1.12.7

Unfortunately, this looks like a common iCloud on Windows issue.

iCloud can be used to sync vaults between iOS and macOS. However, iCloud Drive on Windows may lead to file duplication or corruption.

Then, if I set the storage on my Windows laptop and desktop to OneDrive, and also set my iPhone and iPad to the same OneDrive, will a conflict occur?

It might or might not. With OneDrive you must set the files to always remain downloaded.

Either way, always make sure to keep good backups.
