When going back from viewing a PDF, both linked panels are in editor mode

Fixed in 0.8.9

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have a note open with a linked panel, one panel in editor mode, and one in preview mode.
  2. Click on a link to a PDF file in the preview mode panel.
  3. Go back (I use the go back button on my mouse for this).
  4. Now both linked panels are in editor mode.

Expected result

The panel that was in preview mode should return to preview mode.

Actual result

Both panels are in editor mode.

Environment

  • Operating system: Windows 10 home 1909
  • Obsidian version: v0.8.4

Let me know if you still have this issue with 0.8.8

How do I get 0.8.8?

It’s currently being tested by insiders. Will be released to the public in the next days.

Did some testing in my TestVault in 0.8.8 but on MacOSX.

When I open the link in Preview mode (see screenprint above), I get the PDF in Acrobat Reader. When closing Acrobat Reader the two panes (Preview and Edit) of the same document are still in the mode they were before clicking the PDF-link.

Guess we’ll have to wait to test this in Windows too, but this indicates (if the codebases of Windows and MacOSX are the same) that this should work…

I just tested it in 0.8.9 and it now works as I expected :+1:
Do I need to mark this post as fixed somehow?

I’ll do it, thanks!
