Weird bug: capslock not working properly

Hi! I’m having this really weird bug.
Capslock doesn’t work properly only in Obsidian on my system.
If I switch it on, it just not work at all, even though it works fine in any other program.
The only way to “activate” the capslock is to use SHIFT in any other key, doing so the capslock will work. Once it was turned off, the same behavior repeats, only by pressing the shift with any other key it will be “activated” again.

I’ve deleted the .obsidian file, it’s a fresh install. Tried with a clean vault. Tried with snap and .deb packages. Running on Ubuntu 25.10 (beta).

I have the same problem since I updated Obsidian. Running on Arch Linux.

So if your caps lock is activated, it won’t work. But if you type shift+anything, and then let go of shift, caps lock continues to work as expected?

(Just double checking to make sure you’re not describing holding down shift. I don’t think so, but just making sure.)

What if you just press shift once, without any other key? Does it have any effect?

In my case:

Yes.

What if you just press shift once, without any other key? Does it have any effect?

It has the same effect as pushing Shift + any other key. In other words, it is the act of pushing Shift once that temporarily restores the behaviour of caps lock.

I noticed that I have the same issue with VS Code, so it’s probably an Electron bug.

Nope, it seems like a problem with Xwayland that appears after upgrading to GNOME 49. I can’t post links, but the issue number is 4351 on GNOME’s Gitlab (mutter).

It’s 29/10 and the problem seems to be solved by some system upgrade.
