What I’m trying to do
I use my daily notes as a way to quickly capture everything that happens and then I take notes on my daily notes later. I want to be able to quickly transclude parts of my daily notes into different notes without changing my daily note. I prefer to keep my daily notes unedited for context later, which is why I use transclusion instead of extraction.
Things I have tried
Currently, when I want to create a new note from my daily notes, I do the following:
- Open a new tab and create a new note
- name it something semi-appropriate (I usually do back and do this later)
- Create a link to the daily note in the new note
- use the arrow keys to scan the daily note again and look for the part of the note I want to transclude
- go back to reading my daily notes and repeat
It would be great if that process could turn into something like this:
- Highlight the text I want to transclude
- right click and select “transclude text into new note”
- create the new note, similar to when extracting notes
- insert transclusion into new file
Is there anything already out there that could get me close to this solution? Maybe something with Quick Add?
