Using Synctrain on iPad (iPadOS 18.6) unable to access the synced vault

What I’m trying to do

I am trying to sync my vault between a PC and an iPad; I am using successfully Syncthing and Synctrain, my vault from the PC is now successfully synced on the iPad (local storage); but Obsidian cannot access folders outside its sandbox… so I am stuck, short of copying manually the vault…
Obsidian is not using password or face id

Things I have tried

I have tried going into files, clicking on a .md file and ‘share’ it to Obsidian but my synced folder is still not visible; no change even if I close Obsidian or ‘offload’:

Searched forums and various ‘help’ advice but no luck: anything I am missing?
As I said, Syncthing and Synctrain work fine, I am almost there, the vault is synced on the iPad but Obsidian cannot see it…

I don’t know how Syncthing works but I can tell you that there’s no way around the dedicated Obsidian folder :innocent:

Obsidian can only access, on iPhone/iPad, what’s under its dedicated folder, whether you use iCloud Drive to store and sync your vault(s) across devices or locally, “On My iPhone/iPad”.
This is the place where vault(s) should live  .

Wouldn’t there be a setting somewhere, within Synctrain, to sync the content of your vault to and from the Obsidian folder ? :woman_shrugging:

I mean, some out here, seems to have had some success using Syncthing and Mobius Sync (on iPhone/iPad) to sync their vaults across devices… so I don’t see why that wouldn’t be feasible using Synctrain instead :woman_shrugging: (but I just could be wrong :innocent: )

Thanks to Tommy van der Vorst (author and responsible for Synctrain) I was able to successfully sync my Obsidian vault from my pc (and google drive) both to an android mobile and an ipad, using Syncthing and Synctrain. Everything working well!
