What I’m trying to do
-
Trialing Obsidian and Logseq together off the same files and database. Switched from Logseq to Obsidian as my primary PKM.
-
Looking for help and advice from others that have tried this. Are there any caveats or suggestions and must-dos beyond what I’ve outlined below?
-
My plan is to use Obsidian on Mac and iOS primarily and Logseq on Mac only occassionally.
Things I have tried
-
Used Logseq for a while and really liked the MacOS desktop app. As with many others it was the outliner features, backlinks and the markdown/text files that made me leave other proprietary note apps. I also much preferred the Obsidian iOS app overall.
-
Switched to Obsidian after realizing Logseq slows down considerably as pages and data increase and has a seemingly less robust developer community and slower development progress.
-
Discovered that I can use both apps with the same database so have been testing but realised that I’d need to tweak a few settings. Made the changes on Obsidian’s end since Logseq is less easily customisable out of the box. The changes I have made in Obsidian are putting daily notes in ‘journals’ folder, new pages in ‘pages’ folder and attachments in ‘assets’. This helped since I didn’t like everything in the top Obsidian vault anyways.
-
I also set the daily notes format to YYYY_MM_DD to follow Logseq’s approach and also since I find this useful and intuitive generally.
