Using display text `|` in links does not auto-complete the selected note

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create wikilink [[]]
  2. Select an existing note in auto-complete without pressing enter, # or ^
  3. Press pipe | to add display text to the link.

Expected result

The file name of the note would be autocompleted when pressing | just as it would when pressing enter, # or ^.

Example:
[[Complete File Name|]]

Actual result

The file name is not auto-completed when pressing |.

Example:
[[compl|]]

Even though it auto-completes when pressing # for headers or ^ for block references.
[[Complete File Name#]]
[[Complete File Name^]]

Environment

  • Operating system: macOS Mojave
  • Obsidian version: 0.10.1

this is not a bug but on purpose otherwise you wound not be able to enter alias for non existing files.

This has been reported and discussed other times. please search before posting.

My bad :pray: Thanks for telling me.

In case anyone else sees this post and is concerned with the same issue, the workaround would be to press Tab before pressing | as stated here.
