Additional information

  1. You said differing plugins. Have you tested with no plugins yet? Restricted Mode.
  2. Does it happen in the Sandbox vault?
  3. If not, where are you storing your vaults? Is it stored in a cloud sync tool, NAS, or something else? If you copy one of your entire vault to some basic local folder, does it still happen there? (I’m wondering if it’s some filesystem issue.)

Enable restricted mode and restart Obsidian. Post a screen recording of this happening

What I’m trying to do

In any of my vaults, and each vault is unique and I am using a unique set of community plugins, when I delete a note, any note, the vault shutdown. This has only started happening in the last week or so. I can then reopen the vault with no problem, but it will shut down again upon deleting any note. I have checked that all community plugins are up to date.

Things I have tried

I keep my vaults on a detachable hard drive, so I tried setting up a new vault on the desktop of my computer (Windows, ugh) and did not modify the new vault at all. Then I tried deleting the starting note, and the same thing happened. The vault just shut down.

Try to enable safe mode (disable all plugins at once) and see if it happens again.

My guess, some plugin watches your obsidian folders or notes and crashes not finding anymore the files to check. A reason might be outdated plugins relative to your Obsidian version or/and bad plugin settings.

Also please make sure that your Desktop folder is not automatically synced via OneDrive. Or at least make sure the folder is set to be available offline.

If you’re trying to interact with a cloud folder, you might be hitting the same issue as from a portable hard drive. (Or something like that.)

But yes, +1 to trying in restricted mode and restart Obsidian
