Typing double brackets doesn't activate link creation

What I’m trying to do

I’ve been experimenting with markdown link creation. Currently with wiki linking deactivated, typing [[ moves cursor to top heading/filename instead of activating link creation.

Things I have tried

I searched on the title of this post. Nothing was found.

Never mind: Dummy me was trying to create a link while in reading mode. In editing mode it works fine. (As it was created to do.)
