Trouble with Pasting Images into Obsidian

What I’m trying to do

I am very new to obsidian and still trying to work out how things work. I am on a Windows 10 and struggling to paste png/jpeg images by direct ctrl->c, ctrl->v. It doesn’t appear to do anything, no link, no code.

Things I have tried

I have tried disabling and deleting all my plugins (I had Kabanan and paste URL active) and checking the console for errors. The error that appeared was the following.

My vault is saved under This PC > Users > Me > Desktop > Obsidian. Any help would be much appreciated.

File names cannot end with a dot or a space

did you check if the image you’re trying to paste ends in a dot or a space, e.g.

name..jpg
or
file .png

That would apparently cause Obsidian to reject the image.

Copying the images from where, exactly? A website? A windows explorer folder? A Word document?

From Windows Snip and Sketch. Its a png format.

If it’s not copied from Snip or Sketch, is the paste fine?

No, even if copied off the internet, it still returns the same error code.
