Write a note, add frontmatter to it (the extra meta info at the top, above ---).
The widget that shows how many words you have written takes the frontmatter into account, all the words inside the frontmatter are counted.
They really shouldn’t be, you should ignore anything inside the frontmatter, and show only the number of words written in the actual post.
