The change in "Tab indent size" setting in v1.8.3 no longer controls the actual amount of spaces?

For example, I will set it as follows:

  • “Indent using tabs”: Disabled
  • “Indent visual width”: 2

In this case, when I indent with the Tab key, it inserts 4 spaces, resulting in a visual width of 2 spaces, correct?

When I usually write in programming languages that use 2 spaces for indentation in code blocks, I switched this setting to 2 spaces. Is this usage impossible in v1.8.3?

(To create this post, I changed the language setting in Obsidian to English and was satisfied to see the word “Indent visual width.” However, in Japanese, the expression was the same as before, which caused confusion.)

This was a confusing, unexpected, and unwanted change for me too. I always use two spaces to indent. This change has completely broken the ability to use 2 spaces while creating nested checkbox lists too. I am forced to change the visual width back to 4 spaces in order for nested checkbox lists to make sense. Please give us the option to change this setting back to the old behavior. I created a forum account specifically to reply to this post.
