The developer invited me here to share more about my Google Play 2-Star rating:
Very buggy. 1) After several new entries, setting some text to bold is no longer rendered as bold until I restart the app. 2) Left alignment of text after switching out of edit mode is not preserved. Conclusion: I unacceptably must remain in edit mode for my entries to be readable. Obsidian’s release feels like Beta, not prime-time.
Regarding 1), I can produce it on demand, but I can screen-shot it and share on here.
Regarding 2), it’s hard to describe. Two images describes it all. This issue is universal (ie, occurs everywhere).
Could you share the source text? Copy the text from the note in source mode, and paste it in the forum between two sets of triple backticks:
```
- Sake
- \+ ==House (straight)== hot, small 👌 Handle the vessel from the bottom
- ==Premium==, dry, small Kurosawa Kimoto: You wouldn't want any more; could be shared with other appetizers
- ==Calamari== 👌
- \+ ==Edamame== 👌
- ==Gyozo== Pork
- ==Hiyashi== Seaweed salad 👌
- \+ ==Sunomono== 👌
- \+ ==Vegetable Tempura== 👌
==Nigiri== Thinly sliced raw fish on top of a hand-pressed mound of vinegared rice.
Best enjoyed as two pieces at a time. ==roll== Chef's Signature is large and should be solo.
- \+ ==Avocado Cucumber==
- \+ ==California==
- \+ ==Caterpillar== with Unagi
- \+ ==Colosseum==
- ==Cupid's Arrow==
- ==Futo Maki== (thick roll) fresh tuna, salmon, egg, shiitake, mushroom, green onion
```

I don’t understand what you mean regarding “tripple backticks”.
See the first and last lines of the example they posted? That look like 3 apostrophes or accent marks? They’re asking you to do that so we can see your actual text. It’s a code block, as described in Obsidian help: https://help.obsidian.md/syntax#Code+blocks (it works in the forum too).
Thank you for that explanation – now I understand.

I can’t see anything unexpected in your sample text. Are you referring to the alignment of the lines that start with ‘appetizers’, ’Nigiri’, and ‘roll’ being different in editing and reading modes? If yes, that’s because the editing text has not been parsed. The parsed version is normal / correct. You can align those lines to the left with correct Markdown spacing – see below.
Or are you referring to a different alignment issue?

I’m very new to Obsidian, so it took me awhile to realize that your demonstration was apparently edited in Source Mode which, as far as I can tell, is not available to me in my Android app, where I spend 99+% of my time viewing and editing my entries; I sync to my Mac as a backup. Unfortunately/Understandably, screen space is a premium for me and couching something like “appetizers” with two empty lines is unappealing. I would consider just bulleting “appetizers”, except the Android app appears to have a bug (second image, from my Mac app, is fine).
Scratch that. I had my Mac in Reading mode. When I switched it to Edit mode it has the same odd bullet behavior within “drinks” and “appetizers” (illustrated by my first image). Sorry for the confusion, but Obsidian is not very intuitived for “just a user”. And it doesn’t help that the Android and Mac apps don’t compliment each other.
If you don’t want to have a blank line there, changing appetizers into a list item is one way to go. Not sure why the formatting looks off on mobile. This, for example, looks good to me on desktop and mobile, in both Live preview and Reading view:
- Drinks
- Beer +==Kirin Ichi-ban Shibori== (500ml) 👌🏻
- Sake
- +**==House (straight)==** hot, small 👌🏻 Handle vessel from the bottom
- **==Premium==**, dry, small Kurosawa Kimoto:You wouldn't want any more; could be shared with another.
- Appetizers
- **==Calamari==** 👌🏻
- +**==Edamame==** 👌🏻
- **==Gyozo==** Pork
- **==Hiyashi==** Seaweed salad 👌🏻
On mobile, I make heavy use of the Indent list item and Unindent list item commands/toolbar buttons to make sure I’m getting the indents correct. You could try use those if you haven’t yet.
