Tasks plugin breaks checkboxes

What I’m trying to do

The checkboxes work fine when tasks plugin isn’t loaded, but they break like the following image shows when it is.

The funny thing is that it was working yesterday with tasks loaded. I can’t check them or interact with them at all, but only in read mode. In edit mode they still work fine.

Any ideas?

Things I have tried

I’ve tried everything I can think of. I have taken all custom css and all other plugins off and it’s only the tasks plugin which affects them.

UPDATE:

It is a problem with the obsidianite theme. This allows tasks to work fine.

So… any ideas? Obsidianite isn’t maintained any more unfortunately.

As I mentioned in another topic we chatted in, you can probably fix up what older themes are getting wrong with your own custom css snippets.
