Strict line breaks broken since 1.9.3

Since version 1.9.3 Strict Line Breaks in the Editor settings is broken. You can turn it on or off, hit enter as many times as you like but it has no effect in preview mode. Adding the markdown “br” to your text, on the other hand, adds two new lines … .

Works for me. Please repost this and make sure you follow the bug report template and troubleshooting instructions.

I did but it changes nothing and is therefore obsolete information. I went back to 1.8.10 and “strict line breaks” works just fine. I just hope that our awesome developers are aware of this and that the issue will disappear once Bases goes public.

The setting is working for me in v1.9.6:

text like
this with
line breaks
should render
as one continuous
(completely normal)
paragraph
in reading mode.

ok, I am going to move this to the help section.

Please, next time you file a bug report make sure you follow the bug report template.

I forgot to mention, but the views in my clip are:

source mode | live preview | reading view

OPs example scenario seems to be about the amount of space that’s shown for paragraph breaks in reading mode (since the lines of text are separated by a blank line which is a paragraph in markdown), so the strict line breaks setting shouldn’t be relevant here (that setting only applies to text separated by a single linebreak as in ariehen’s example).

I’m not seeing any difference with the amount of space that’s shown for paragraphs in reading mode in 1.8.10 vs 1.9.6 on my end… it looks identical for me:

1.8.10:

1.9.6:

Since I seem to be the only one who has encountered this issue, I realized that it might be a plugin that doesn’t play nice with the 1.9.x releases of Obsidian. I will test this but because I have 28 plugins installed, I have to find the time to do it. Possibly this weekend … If anyone knows of a plugin that does this, please let me know.
Thanks😊
