Splits inside tabs instead of tabs inside splits

Use case or problem

My main work environment for 10+ years has been Vim, and I’ve become hardwired to the way it handles tabs. In Vim, tabs are the “top-level objects”, and each tab can show one or more buffer in splits (or windows in Vim parlance).

Obsidian does the exact opposite: splits are the top-level objects, and contain tabs.

Proposed solution

I would love to have the option to have “splits inside tabs” like in Vim.
