Spell check underlines words too quickly with red underline

Steps to reproduce

  1. Make sure spellcheck plugin is on
  2. In an editor mode pane, type an r
  3. Type an a

Expected result

The resulting “ra|” (pipe representing your cursor) shouldn’t be underlined with the red spellcheck underline until you hit space

Actual result

The “ra” is underlined immediately…

Environment

  • Operating system: macOS 11.0.1 (20B29)
  • Obsidian version: 0.11.0

Additional information

It looks like this happens once you get to two or more letters in the word you’re typing, if it’s not a dictionary word. Maybe the 2+ is just because all single letters are in the dictionary.

I believe this is a bug, as I’ve never seen any other text editor work this way. Happy to open a feature request if that’s the way to get this into the system though.

+1 to this - I couldn’t find a feature request if @identity had opened one. If there was a way to ‘debounce’ spellcheck, that would be great.

Right now, every word that I’m typing will automatically have the red squiggle underneath it to begin with.
