Space before footnote definition disables it

Steps to reproduce

  1. Paste the following text:
Footnote 1: [^1]
Footnote 2: [^2]

[^1]: http://foo.bar
         [^2]: http://foo.bar

Expected result

Editor intelligently handles spaces.

Actual result

Footnotes with preceding spaces are disabled:

I don’t agree that this is a bug nor that the editor or preview should do anything differently.
