Save what matters - Archive posts from 17 platforms directly into your Obsidian vault as beautifully formatted Markdown notes.
Why I Built This
Social media is ephemeral. Posts disappear, accounts get deleted, platforms shut down. I wanted a way to permanently save valuable content I find on social media - directly into my personal knowledge base where I own the data forever.
Social Archiver gives you:
- Data Ownership: Archived content stays in your vault - you control it
- Searchable Archives: Full-text search across all your saved posts
- Rich Metadata: YAML frontmatter with timestamps, author info, engagement stats
- Media Preservation: Downloads images and videos alongside text
- Timeline View: Browse all your archives in a beautiful, filterable feed
I’ve been using this daily for months, and it’s become essential to my workflow.
Key Features
Single Post Archive
Paste any post URL to instantly archive it. The note appears immediately in your vault while full content downloads in the background - you can keep working or even close Obsidian.
Profile Crawling
Go beyond single posts - bulk-archive recent posts from any creator’s profile. Supports customizable time ranges (24h to all time) and post counts (1-20).
Subscriptions
Subscribe to profiles for automatic daily archiving. Smart deduplication ensures you never save the same post twice. RSS-based subscriptions for newsletters, blogs, and podcasts are completely free.
Timeline View
See all your saved posts in one scrollable feed. Switch to Media Gallery mode for a Pinterest-style layout. Filter by platform, search by content, or browse by date. You can also write your own posts directly in the timeline.
Web Sharing
Share archived posts to the web with your personal public timeline at social-archive.org/{username}. Choose Preview mode (copyright-safe excerpts) or Full mode.
