Settings panel is missing the Search box & some settings appear to be missing

What I’m trying to do

I am a VERY new Obsidian user and it seems that I am losing what’s left of my mind. Here are two problems I’m trying to resolve:

  1. When I open settings, the search box that used to be at the top of the panel is missing.
  2. Previously I used Display Filters > Hide Folders to hide all folders beginning with the letter Z (/Z*). Now I can’t even find that setting.
Core Plugins: Only the default plugins are active.
Community Plugins: Notebook Navigator, Style Settings, and Templater. Nothing else.
Presumably I’m doing something astonishingly stupid. I hope someone can point out what I’m overlooking.

Things I have tried

I have …
… disabled all community plugins.
… closed and reopened Obsidian.
… created a new vault.
… manually searched through the Settings options in an attempt to locate the missing setting.

The second one isn’t a native feature of Obsidian. The first one won’t be a feature until 1.13 (you’re in 1.12.7).

They sound like they could be features of Notebook Navigator, which is in your plugin list.

Its FAQ and Discord channel are linked at the bottom of it GitHub about page: https://github.com/johansan/notebook-navigator. And its docs are linked at the top.

If you can’t find the features in its settings, those would be good places to check whether it really is the source and how to get the features back.

Thanks! I could swear that the search box was there earlier, but then sometimes I commit 1D10T errors. After Notebook Navigator’s docs on Github, I found the option to hide folders. PEBKAC again.

Happens to us all

Glad you found it!
