Settings and web viewer randomly stop working

So I’ve had this issue where at any random point while using obsidian (even a few seconds after startup) i try clicking on the gear icon and the settings dont appear, and if i try typing an url in a new web viewer page it’s just a grey screen. I tried restricted mode, default theme and it still happens, here’s my debig info:

Yep it happens on sandbox as well

I mentioned a variation of this on Discord a few days ago, but as an experiment, I would try creating a new Windows user account and then try a test vault or the Sandbox vault in that account.

Then you’ll know if the issue is restricted to your main user account or system wide.

Unfortunately i have trouble doing this as obisdian isn’t present in the new account and i have yet to try downloading it again. Fortunately though, ever since i turned “open settings in new window” off it seems the settings have been fixed and always open now

Interesting. By chance, did you have any of your Obsidian windows full screen (maximized) when the issue happened?

Not many, but I recall a handful of folks on Discord mentioning Settings (not the WebViewer that I recall) acting strangely when windows were maximized.

Anyway, glad you got it working for now!

I tried both full screen and smaller screen but it still happens so we know now that’s not the cause

allllllright i just found the issue: i use a folder locker app to keep obisdian to myself locked behind a password, and i just noticed that the web viewer only stops working when i close that program i open to unlock it. it’s still kinda annoying because i need to find another locker program that doesnt do this (i already had this issue with another locker app but didn’t expect it on the current one)
