A space in an exact phrase gives a No Matches result in some cases; for example, if I’m looking for “g i”, then a note with, say, “… matching indexes …” in it won’t be found. Changing to a regexp search version does work, as does <Ctrl> F on the page itself.
This is not a bug, the search docs says “exact phrase” not “exact string”. A phrase is delimited by spaces or punctuation marks.
I’ll try to make it clearer when I get the time.
Well, I have to say I’m confused - if there are special rules to using the search then the app becomes rather non intuitive; it’s certainly not working as all other programs that have a “find something” function in them operate - putting quotations around a string of characters means I want exactly such, which here either works, or doesn’t. It means that every time it comes up with No Matches I immediately suspect the program is not working ‘right’; and will have to use regexp to confirm. So I might as well always use regexp …
