'Save As' Feature

Use case or problem

When I want to duplicate/save a version of the document and keep working on a different one.

Proposed solution

A ‘Save As’ button that allows you to choose where to save it, and what to name it.

Current workaround (optional)

Duplicate it in your file manager of choice.

Hi @hannah11 , welcome to the Obsidian community!

Another quick way of creating a duplicate is to right-click the file in the navigator and choose “Make a copy”.

There is also a command “Duplicate current file”, which you can map to a hotkey. It duplicates the file in the same location, and appends a number to the end of the name. And then there is a command “Move current file to another folder“.

The “Make a copy” menu item is “Duplicate” on Apple devices. The command may be named differently on different OSes too (mine are all Apple so I can’t check).
