Right-click does not work in files view, but does in sandbox vault

What I’m trying to do

Right click in folder in the files view and “new note” which is a part of my workflow. Also other right-click options such as delete do not work. However, the delete key does work.

What happens

Nothing visibly happens. I have to create a new note (in the root of the files folder) and then drag it into the folder of choice.

Things I have tried

Turned off most settings and all plugins. When I try the sandbox vault it works fine. How do I get my vault back to working right-click in files view?

I’ve reset the permissions on the vault (which had not changed), I am owner and have read and write access to the entire vault folder.

My system

Latest Obsidian 1.6.5 on Linux (Debian stable).

The troubleshooting steps are in the template, but I’ll re-link them here:

Yup, followed these steps.

I’ve decided to move all my content to another vault. New vaults work fine, the old vault doesn’t work fine. No idea what it is in the old vault that caused this issue.

Maybe you tried this, but did you restart Obsidian after disabling the plugins?

Did you have any CSS snippets in the old vault?

Glad you found a solution, but still curious what the cause was.

No idea what the cause was, and it wasn’t anything in the troubleshooting guide, since I did all of that. Yes, restarted multiple times. No, no css snippets.

Aha, the cause of the problem was enabling “Native menus” in > Appearance → Advanced. Maybe it has trouble with Debian / XFCE? No idea but when turned off the problem goes away. Hooray!
