I’ve been away from Obsidian for a year or two after getting frustrated with attachment management, but I’m back as of yesterday when I figured out a work around for what frustrated me.
Why I left
I only use attachments that are unique to each note, and I want a note’s attachments to stay with it when I move it inside or outside of Obsidian. For example if I move a note from vault A to vault B, I want the note and its attachments to move to the destination vault. My solution is put notes with attachments in a folder dedicated to the note and attachment are created in a subfolder. Now when I move the parent folder, everything moves together. Easy peasy.
This is such a simple solution. I should have thought of it before I left Obsidian.
New Feature?
Today I deleted a note with attachments after I saw that my setting to store attachments in a subfolder had reverted back to a previous setting setting. Probably a syncing problem with my new setup.
I noticed that when I deleted the note with attachments, I got a prompt to delete the now- unused attachments as well. That was cool! I don’t remember what happening when I last used Obsidian.
I wonder what other features have been added while I was gone. Is there a news feed or similar where I could catch up?
