[Resolved] Remembering layouts and avoiding new tabs in sidebar

I resolved the issue since I started writing this topic, but I’ll leave it here for anyone to find. As it seems this is an issue that pops up from time to time on these forums.

What I’m trying to do

I want Obsidian to open up in exactly the same state as I left it when I closed it:

  • Currently open note - works
  • Currently open sidebars - works
  • Currently open tab in the sidebar - doesn’t work

Plus, each time I start up the application, a new tab is opened in the sidebar, which is very annoying, as I have to close tens of them daily.

Here’s an illustration on how a few sessions look like and how I have to reset the layout every time:

Things I have tried / how I resolved the issue

Right sidebar

  1. Disable all plugins: layouts are saved, as expected.
  2. Start enabling plugins one-by-one: Advanced Cursors seems to be causing the issue
  3. Check settings: turn off “Open Saved Query View on Load” option
  4. Issue is resolved

Left sidebar

Going further down the list, I discovered that Recent Files plugin is forcing “Recent files” to be opened at each launch. Disabling/uninstalling the plugin seems to be the only solution so far, as there’s no option not to open the Recents tab on load.
