The current bundled electron version has a bug that prevents tray icons from working on ubuntu/wayland. A fix has been deployed upstream and should be included in the next electron release - see electron pr #52952

Until then downgrading to the 1.13.4 installer negates the problem.

Please consider updating Capacitor to 7 (or 8). Obsidian currently uses 5.x which is an ancient version released 3 years ago.

I think updating it would make a lot of bugs disappear; and I personally have countered some niche bugs that are present in the latest Obsidian version but would be fixed by updating Capacitor.
