What I’m trying to do
I’m using Obsidian to manage a large project (a house build). I am using it to consolidate and annotate the various files we receive from contractors, so I have “Detect All File Extensions” switched on so I can see all of the various files.
Some of these are .zip files (eg “Kitchen Design.zip”). If I click on these - even a single click - then Obsidian will attempt to open them (even though Obsidian won’t open them “natively”) which causes them to be un-zipped, creating a new folder for the contents of the zip file (“Kitchen Design”). The original “Kitchen Design.zip” file remains, so the effect is that the folder with the original zip file contains a new folder - it’s not always obvious what happened, so I end up clicking several times on the zip file creating multiple folders with similar names (“Kitchen Design 1”, “Kitchen Design 2”, “Kitchen Design 3” etc)
It is definitely useful to be able to open the zip file directly from Obsidian - but just once - not every time I inadvertently click on the zip file.
Is there any way to stop zip files from being automatically unzipped? A “Do you want to unzip this file?” would be useful!
Thank you
PS: I am running on macOS.
Things I have tried
Searching online and in this forums - I couldn’t see anything appropriate.
I have switched off “Open ‘safe’ files automatically” in Safari to try and prevent the auto-opening but this didn’t help.
