Pop!_Os (Ubuntu): Obsidian Crashes when choosing path for new/existing vault

Steps to reproduce

  1. Make .appimage executable
  2. Start it
  3. Open new vault and type name or open existing vault
  4. Displays my file manager to choose a location, and then crashes in a second.
  5. Already reproduced this 10 times.

Expected result

Allow me to choose a location for my vault and start note-taking.

Actual result

The app crashes
In the command line, the error is -

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Environment

  • Operating system: Pop!_Os 20.04 (Ubuntu)
  • Obsidian version: 0.6.7
  • Using custom CSS: No

Does it happen for any location you pick?

I don’t have time to pick a location.
It displays my root directory “/” and then crashes.

Does the snap package work?

So I just tried the snap package. And it works! I set up a new vault almost without any problems.
One bug I encountered when entering
snap run obsidian
was this -

Failed to load module "appmenu-gtk-module

Edited the post and added the cmdline error I get with the appimage.

Error still occurring in version 0.7.3. Sometimes. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Error occurs on my desktop but not my laptop. Both are running Pop!OS 20.04. The only thing I can think of that is different between the two is that the desktop has several NFS shares that it’s getting from my home server. Not sure if that has any meaning but thought I’d share.
