Plugins are deactivated on Launch (Core and Community) + Side panes changes are not saved

Steps to reproduce

  • Start Obsidian
  • Activate Plugins as Needed (in my case Community Plugin Quick-Add and Core Plug in Workspace)
  • Arrange the side panes as you wish (Backlinks, local graph etc.)
  • Close Obsidian
  • Start Obsidian again, the Plugins are inactive once again and the changes in the side panes are not visable.

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N] Yes, and not even the default theme was saved, so after reopening obsidian, my installed theme was active again.

Expected result

I would like to have the plugins active and my changes in themes and settings to be saved. I started to try-out the plug in workspaces, because i noticed, that changes in the side panes were not saved. But the workaround (load a workspace) is not doable if the plugin is inactive.

Actual result

The plugins were inactive and the side panes were not as they should be

Additional information

Where’s the location of your vault? Is it in a sync service folder or somewhere watched by a sync service? OneDrive, GoogleDrive, etc.

Initially I had it on SynologyDrive… But to eliminate that cause, I copied to the desktop and reinstalled Obsidian… Nothing changed

Acually, there are some more issues (that I guess are related)

  • Core Plugin Canvas re-activates itself
  • I’m unable to delete hotkeys I don’t use, so that I could use them for something else
  • Even “free” hotkeys are not saved

Thanks for looking into it

Try creating a new vault in C:/Users/YOU/, so something like C:/Users/YOU/MyVault and see how that vault behaves.

Sounds like you have write permissions problems in your vault.

How could that happen? What to do about it? I’ll try creating a new one.

Creating a new vault on C/Users/Me seems to have solved the issue. I was now able to activate and deactivate core plugins as needed, and designed the side panes as i wish. When reopening obsidian the changes are saved… I tried to install quick add as communitiy plugin, and it worked fine!

How high would you rate the risk of recreating the issue, when I copy my files into the new vault? I would only copy the .md files, no folders…
