I wrote a small plugin called quick-links to create “quick links” to easily link to external sites. Its original purpose was to link to Wikipedia articles by writing, e.g., [[w:Physics]], but it also allows you to define your own prefixes and substitutions. For instance, you could set up gh as a prefix for GitHub, so that [[gh:obsidianmd/obsidian-releases]] would link to the obsidian-releases repository. You can also create inter-vault links.
