For your consideration - my 2nd ever Obsidian plugin: Auto-properties

Create automatically-updating properties in your notes based on rules. It’s lightweight, very flexible, and gives bases better data to work with.

You can now have rules that effectively make bases care about specific content from your notes.

Use cases:

Properties, named anything you want, that automatically…

  • pull up the first embedded image

  • pull “in-work” tasks

  • pull in-line (Dataview-style) properties up as actual properties.

  • pull “tldr” callout content

  • pull all “quote” callouts

  • pull all highlighted (or bolded, or italicized, etc) text

  • count the number of times a word is used

  • count the number of open (or closed) tasks

  • pull content from the 1st heading (or all headings, whatever!)

  • pull the file name, extension, size, location, or dates

  • plus whatever else you can think of!

Here’s the GitHub README and the Wiki, which goes into more detail.

Give it a shot! I hope you find it as useful as I do.

Hi!

The links you posted:

https://community.obsidian.md/account/plugins/auto-properties

have account in the URL, so Obsidian asks you to login. You may want to change them to

https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/auto-properties

so folks, with or without an Obsidian account, can just click and get to the community page without logging in.

If you can’t change them, I can. Just let me know.

WHOOPS. I shouldn’t post things that close to bedtime.

Thanks for noticing & letting me know. Should be fixed now!
