Since the recent update (around One UI / Obsidian 1.13+), Obsidian shows a dialog every time it loads HTML resources from a network drive:
“Network drive access. This content is requesting data from a network drive. Allowing this may expose your login credentials or other sensitive information to the remote host.”
I completely understand the security concern, but for users with vaults or linked files on network drives, this has become very disruptive. In my case, my entire vault lives on a network share (
\\***\*** *** ***\obsidian\…), and I have many files and resources that are accessed regularly. Now I have to click “Allow” constantly throughout the day, which breaks flow and makes working with Obsidian much less pleasant.Could the Obsidian team please add one of the following options?
A setting like:
“Don’t show network drive access warning again for this vault”
or
“Always allow network drive access for trusted vaults” (with a clear warning about the security implications), orAt least a “Remember my choice for this path/vault” checkbox in the dialog.
Right now, there is no official way to disable or silence this warning, and workarounds (CSS, small custom plugins) are not ideal for average users. A simple toggle in Settings → Interface or Security would solve this for many power users who intentionally run their vaults on trusted internal network drives.
Thanks for considering this, and thanks for all the great work on Obsidian so far.
This sounds like it may fir better in the “Feature Requests” section
How can I do that?
Go to Feature requests and search to see if anyone has already requested what you want. If no one has, start a new post there and follow the instructions in the text box.
